A wedding that moves by boat
In Perast the day does not stay in one room. It starts in a stone house above the water, moves to the island church by boat, and comes back for a long table under the palms once it gets dark. Photographing that means working from the boat as much as from the shore — and it is the reason this wedding does not look like a wedding anywhere else.
Light on the bay
The bay works twice a day. In the morning the mountains still hold the shadow and the water is flat enough to mirror the island. In the last hour the stone turns the colour of honey and the light comes across the water instead of down onto it, which is when portraits on the quay are worth the wait. Midday is the hour to be indoors, and the old houses are built for exactly that.
Planning a wedding in Perast
The nearest airport is Tivat, about half an hour away, and I come down from Serbia the day before. The town is small enough to walk end to end in a quarter of an hour, so guests are never far from anything and the day does not lose an hour to transfers. Travel is quoted separately and kept simple: one photographer, no crew to accommodate, no lighting rigs in your ceremony.
