A Wedding in White

Every wedding has a palette whether the couple planned one or not. This one was decided in advance and held to the end: white arch, white drapes, white flowers hanging over the dance floor, white columns for the portraits. A single colour carried through a whole day is a decision most people are afraid to make, and it is the reason these photographs hold together as a set rather than a collection of moments.

Everything in white

Everything at this wedding was white — the arch, the drapes, the flowers hanging over the dance floor, the columns the couple were photographed between. A single colour held through an entire day is a decision most people are afraid to make, and it is the reason these photographs hold together as a set.

The ceremony by the pool

The ceremony was held at the edge of the pool, with the arch reflected in the water and the guests seated around three sides of it.

Fireworks

Fireworks are easy to photograph badly. The trick is to stop photographing the sky and photograph the people underneath it — the light falls on them for a second or two and then it is gone.

The couple session

A white colonnade, hard midday light and a long train. Architecture like this does half the work — you only have to find where the shadows fall.
